It was only a about year ago that I learned the tricks to becoming a “morning person”. Prior to that, waking up early for work was a daily struggle.
Although mornings are much more bearable for me now, I do wake up cranky some days due to lack of sleep the night before. To combat the grump and slump, here are some things we can all do in the morning to keep our skin looking fresh, radiant and energised to face the rest of the day!
I know, I know, mornings are usually a mad rush of jumping into the shower, picking out your outfit of the day, getting made up and chugging down a mug of coffee before dashing out the door. Lucky for all you #LazyGirls out there, these tips are so quick and so simple!
You don’t have to roll out the yoga mat for this. You can stretch in the comfort of your bed! Hooray! After sleeping for 6 to 8 hours, our bodies are stiff from lying still for so long. Once your alarm goes off, resist the urge to hit the snooze button. Instead, throw off the covers and do some simple stretches. Get into a starfish position and stretch your legs and arms. Raise your arms over your head and gently twist your waist from side to side. This will improve your blood circulation, which is a good way to kick start your day!
If you’re already late for work, chances are you’re going to be in and out of the shower in less than 10 minutes. Don’t underestimate the power of a little quick pampering in the shower. It’s the only 10 minutes you’ll have all to yourself until you knock off from work. So, make the most of it! Clear your head and cleanse yourself with two-in-one products that work wonders while saving you a ton of time. My personal favourite multi-tasking product is Kevin Murphy’s Re.Store repairing cleansing treatment which works as a shampoo and conditioner all in one! It doesn’t hurt that all their products are packaged so beautifully (and they all smell amazing), which makes taking my morning shower a little more pleasant. I swear, my bathroom is 100% Instagrammable now.
We all want dewy skin that looks youthful and hydrated. Apply a thin layer of face mist on your skin before moisturising to lock in the moisture. It will also help to reduce any morning puffiness, especially around your eyes.
Because we’re all about that DIY life, we have 3 amazing refreshing face mist DIYs for you to try! You can save some money and still look beautiful, so, why the hell not?!
Start your day on the right note with a big glass of detox water. It’ll give you an energy boost while cleaning out your system while improving your metabolism. You can drink anything from a simple lemon infused water (which celebs like Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow swear by) to any of these super easy and incredibly yummy detox waters.
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day (I can hear my mother’s voice in my head as I’m writing this). What we consume in the morning really can make or break your day. Eating a meal full of sugar (like a doughnut or muffin) or grease (bacon) will not only give you a sugar crash before lunch time, but it’ll also make you crave more unhealthy food throughout the day. Start the day on the right note by feeding your body a nutritious and delicious meal. Check out these 5 super simple healthy ideas anyone can make. Yes, even you.
Instead of downing a mug of coffee together with your breakfast, why don’t you try green tea instead? It gives you a good caffeine boost while providing your system with lots of antioxidants.
