6 Ways To Make Your Mornings Suck Less

Waking up early for work or school is no fun. While you may never get used to getting up at the crack of dawn, here are 6 ways to kickstart your day and make your mornings suck less:



Drink Water The Minute You Wake Up

Leave a glass of water on your nightstand so that you can take a big gulp once you get out of bed. Drinking water on an empty stomach helps to flush toxins out of your body and improves metabolism amongst other health benefits. You’ll also feel more alert and energized throughout the day!

Instead of hitting the snooze button once your alarm goes off, throw off your covers and do a quick stretch to get your blood flowing and gently “wake up” your muscles. It’ll make it much easier to get out of bed to face the rest of the day.

Start the day off on the right note. Whether you prefer to play a soothing playlist or would rather blast your favourite rap album while you’re brushing your teeth, there is no doubt that music can get your brain and body up and running and set the mood for a good day ahead.

Getting a lil’ sweaty in the morning will keep you in a better mood and you’ll feel more energized throughout the day. Don’t worry, you don’t even have to change into workout attire! Set aside 5 to 10 minutes every morning before your shower to do a quick exercise routine in your PJs. For example:


Mondays: 40 squats 

Tuesdays: 30 push-ups

Wednesdays: 40 sit-ups or crunches

Thursdays: 20 lunges on each side 

Fridays: 30-second plank (3 sets)

Ideally, you shouldn’t be having sugary cereals or doughnuts for breakfast. Greek yoghurt with a spoonful of honey and a generous serving of fresh berries is a good option for those of you craving something sweet to kickstart your day. If you prefer a savoury breakfast, try scrambled eggs on a piece of wholemeal toast. If you’re really pressed for time, grab a peanut butter wholemeal sandwich and an apple to eat on the way to work.
